Neil qualified as a solicitor in 2005 and then practiced in both the corporate/commercial and real estate teams of an award winning regional law firm, after which he practiced in the major corporate real estate team of a leading international law firm. Following this, he spent nearly a decade working with in-house legal teams of UK and global technology companies on commercial legal and business affairs.
Neil has extensive experience in Digital Media/Entertainment, Technology/Software/Saas/Consulting, and Real Estate/Facilities.
Neil previously ran a small healthcare business and is currently a consultant solicitor to a law firm in England which specialises in healthcare matters.
Neil can:-
draft, negotiate and/or advise on contracts and policies
research and advise on legal and business issues
provide training on legal and business issues
instruct and manage external counsel
provide early stage dispute management and problem solving
horizon scan for risks related to certain businesses or activity
provide leadership on legal and business issues
Neil is also a freelance solicitor (which means, he practices in his own name and not through a regulated practice) on certain lower risk matters which do not constitute “reserved legal activities” (see reserved-legal-activities). This can provide a cost effective legal advice solution to clients for certain lower risk matters, but equally clients are alerted to the fact that they have less protection (including notably, the backing of a less robust insurance policy which meets minimum standards imposed on law firms by the solicitors regulation authority) than if they work with Neil via a regulated law firm.
